How To Maintain An Electric Motorcycle? (1)

Electric Motorcycle Suppliers will share this article with you.

Compared with gas motorcycles, electric motorcycles are easier to maintain and save time. When maintaining an ordinary motorcycle, you have to do something, but an electric motorcycle does not need to do so. Let's take a look at the difference between maintaining a gasoline-powered motorcycle and maintaining an electric motorcycle...

What maintenance is not needed for electric bicycles?

No need to change the oil and oil filter

Changing the oil is the most important thing, and you should do it often to keep a good gasoline-powered motorcycle healthy. However, electric motorcycles do not use oil, so you do not need to change the oil and oil filter of your electric motorcycle. Changing the oil is not a difficult task, every experienced driver knows how to do it, but it is still a rather annoying task that requires some special tools, which will make your hands dirty. Therefore, owning an electric motorcycle can save you some time and money, because there is no need to buy extra things, such as oil, oil filter, screwdriver, rubber gloves, etc.

No coolant and other fluids required

Most modern gasoline-powered motorcycles usually use coolant to cool the engine to prevent the vehicle from overheating. The engine of an electric motorcycle is not so hot, so the electric motorcycle absolutely does not need any cooling technology. As mentioned earlier, electric motorcycles do not have engine oil. But on the other hand, electric motorcycles still use some other fluids, such as fork oil and brake fluid. These need to be replaced every 10,000 miles or so.

No spark plug, clutch, and air filter

These are parts of gasoline-powered motorcycles that do not require much maintenance and do not need to be replaced frequently. But on an electric motorcycle, you don't need to care about these at all. No spark plug is needed because there is no ignition inside the electric engine. The clutch does not need to be there because of a single gear. Air filters are designed to prevent dust from entering the engine of gasoline-powered bicycles, and they are not needed on electric motorcycles.

What maintenance does an electric bicycle need?

Chain cleaning and lubrication

Both gasoline and electric motorcycles use chains to transfer power from the engine to the rear wheels. This means you still need to take care of your chain and clean it up occasionally. When riding any kind of motorcycle, small particles of dust will fall on the chains and slowly start to cause friction between the chains. It is recommended to give your chain a good cleaning every 1000-2000 miles depending on the weather and other conditions. In short, every time your chain becomes very dry and dirty, it needs to be cleaned and lubricated.

You can use special cleaning products or simple kerosene to clean your motorcycle chain. For lubrication, it is recommended to use professional motorcycle chain lubricants, which will ensure that your chain maintains proper lubrication and protection for a long time. There are many high-quality motorcycle chain lubricants on the market, usually in spray cans.
